This is a massage style that uses a variety of gentle techniques to calm the nervous system and increase oxygen flow in the blood. This is a wonderful massage for those who want to relax and promote a general sense of well-being.
Remedial Massage
This is a stronger style of massage that uses a variety of techniques which has a more therapeutic effect. It helps release tired muscles, improve flexibility and increase circulation to the area to help the own body's repair mechanisms. The therapist will trace back to the original cause of the discomfort, which may be in a different area to where pain is felt.
Sports Massage
This can be a very strong style of massage that targets specific injuries and conditions associated with exercise. It helps to improve performance and to prevent injury.
Trigger Point Therapy/Deep Tissue/Connective/Myotherapy
These are all massage techniques used to focus on and release specific areas including the fibres of muscles, contraction knots and connective tissue (fascia, tendons, ligaments). The client may feel some discomfort for a day or two. Client feedback is essential to minimise the level of discomfort.
Children/Infant Massage/Baby Workshops
If your child is experiencing discomfort from constipation, colic/abdominal pain, reflux, sleeping difficulties, congestion or teething, massage can be very beneficial. Kirstin also facilitates baby massage workshops with the baby and the parents/caregivers. This is wonderful for bonding with the child. Older children benefit from massage, particularly if they suffer from muscle soreness, sleeping difficulties or stress. Massage can rebalance the body. Kirstin uses organic carrier oils and she is fully trained in the use of essential oils so as to not overload the child's system and to help treat the specific ailment. All children's massage is for a maximum of 30 minutes. (Except workshops)
Pregnancy Massage
Kirstin is a qualified practitioner of Pregnancy massage. Pregnancy massage uses a variety of Remedial and Swedish techniques that can help calm the nervous system, help reduce swelling, sleeping difficulties, stress, back pain, cramps, joint and ligament pain.
Aromatherapy
This is a massage style that uses gentle pressure and essential oils to help stimulate the lymphatic and central nervous system. This is a deeply relaxing massage. The Aromatherapy massage is for 90 minutes duration.
